CNN) -- Bank of America CEO and Chairman Kenneth Lewis has been issued a subpoena by the New York State Attorney General's Office, which is investigating whether the bank violated state law by withholding information from investors, a source familiar with the investigation told CNN.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has been highly critical of Wall Street firms in general and Merrill Lynch in particular for the way they have conducted themselves in the midst of a financial crisis.

Last week, he accused Merrill Lynch, which was acquired by Bank of America late last year, of secretly doling out big bonuses before reporting a huge quarterly loss.

Man charged with arson in Australia wildfires

KINGLAKE, Australia (CNN) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with one of the myriad wildfires that have laid waste to parts of southeastern Australia and killed at least 181 people.
Police say the man is suspected of lighting a fire on February 7. He was charged with arson causing death, intentionally or recklessly lighting a bush fire, and possessing child pornography, according to a statement by the Victoria state police.

The man, who was not named, is suspected of starting a blaze called the Churchill fire.

6 bodies found, 2 people still missing after Canadian avalanches

The deadliest strike was in the city of Falluja, west of Baghdad, when two suicide bombers simultaneously rammed oil tankers into two Iraqi police posts, damaging a nearby school and killing at least 15 people, an Interior Ministry official said.

The twin strikes destroyed six houses and a police station, and left at least 147 other people wounded, he said. Part of the school collapsed from the blast, leaving many trapped in the rubble.

Marine slaying suspect to be returned from Mexico

The suspect in the death of a 20-year-old pregnant Marine will be returned to North Carolina to face charges in her slaying, a Mexican judge ruled Thursday, according to North Carolina authorities.

U.S. Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, 21, who was arrested in Mexico in April, could be returned to Onslow County, North Carolina, within a week, the county sheriff's office said in a statement issued Thursday. Federal authorities will handle his transportation to the North Carolina jail.
